Star Trek Has Been Seen!!!

In a very unexpected move by JJ Abrams, a whole bunch of lucky punters in Austin, Texas got to see the new Trek movie last night, hours before it's due to be shown in Sydney and over a month before the rest of the world gets to see it.

They had been expecting to watch a screening of The Wrath of Khan, when 2 minutes into the film, it seemed to 'melt' away. Then Leonard Nimoy walked on stage carrying a film can and asked "Wouldn't you like to see the new one?" To which, the audience went ballistic.

Overall reaction to the film has been very positive.

All I can say is that I'm extremely jealous. Roll on May 8th.

Transformers 3 News

The second one isn't even out yet but Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks have already set a release date for the third Transformers movie. July 1, 2011 is the provisional date, although the studios have cautioned that the dating of the third installment isn't an official announcement that the project is going forward; rather that the studios wanted to plan a stake in the date.

MacGuyver: The Movie?

Following the recent trend of adapting 80s TV shows into blockbuster movies, such as the long gestating A-Team Movie, it has been announced that New Line Cinema is bringing MacGuyver to the big screen.

The series, which ran from 1985-1992, starred Richard Dean Anderson as a secret agent who could escape from dangerous situations with ingenious and lightning-quick engineering trickery.

At this stage, there is no writer has been atatched but I know there will be plenty of people out there who will be eager to see, most notably Patty and Selma from The Simpsons haha.

Robin Hood Has 3 Merry Man So Far

Ahead of Ridley Scott's upcoming re-imagining of the Robin Hood legend, 3 significant characters have been cast. Apart from Russell Crowe who headlines as the Sheriff of Nottingam and the recently announced Cate Blanchett playing Maid Marian, Scott Grimes will be playing Will Scarlett. Grimes is most recognised from Band of Brothers and the recent series of ER. Kevin Durand has been cast as Little John. Durand played one of the Tremor brothers in Smokin' Aces. And the other piece of casting is Alan Doyle as Allan a Dale.

The Return of Riddick?

With Vin Diesel returning this year as Dom Toretto in the upcoming Fast and Furious, the actor has hinted that there may be another resurrection in the near future, in the form of Richard Riddick.

Diesel was promoting the release of The 'Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena' game, when he had commented that Pitch Black writer / director David Twohy had recently completed a third script in the Riddick saga.

The last movie was released in 2004 and I know there would be much demand for a return.
